İsmail Ertürk

Ismail Ertürk is Senior Lecturer in Banking and the Director of the Leading ESG and Sustainability Programme at Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester. His research focuses on financialised capitalism, sustainability, green finance, ESG, and the economics of climate and nature risks. He is one of the early contributors to the concept and research on financialisation and has served as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Cultural Economy, which has influenced social scientists internationally by introducing interdisciplinary approaches to the study of markets and the economy. He has widely published on financialised capitalism, the social context of finance, and the cultural economy. He has co-authored and co-edited four books and numerous interdisciplinary academic articles. He is currently co-editing a book on “sustainable finance”. He has held advisory roles in international university research projects in Germany, Finland, Portugal, Brazil and has undertaken advisory work for both the private and public sectors worldwide in the US, Europe, and China. He has developed and directed executive programmes for leading international banks, including Lloyds in the UK and ICBC in China. He regularly appears in international media to comment on socially responsible finance and business.
