Prof. Dr. Nazım Ekren

He completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at the Bursa Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences and earned his PhD in International Banking at Uludağ University. He received his associate professorship and full professorship at Marmara University, and spent 1989-1990 as a researcher at the University of Manchester. In 1997 he was appointed General Manager of Vakıflar Bankası. A Member of Parliament for the 22nd and 23rd terms (2002-2011 AK Parti), Prof. Dr. Ekren served as State Minister responsible for Economic Coordination and Deputy Prime Minister during the 60th Government (2007-2009). Appointed Rector of Istanbul Ticaret University in 2011, a position he held until 2019, Ekren currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Economics at the same university, Director of the Research and Project Development Academy (DÜPA), and a full member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA).
